Some Jewellery

I made some new pendants a few days ago and thought you might be interested in seeing them so here we go:

I already made one of these earlier this year but I gave it to my dear friend and pen pal Sonja so I decided to make one for myself. The text is a reference to BBC Sherlock, one of my favourite TV series ever!

These ones are a little more unusual compared to the pendantds I normally make because these have no real pictures or texts in them. The big one is an actual pendant while the small round one is a brooch.

Again, no pictures or text, just colour mixtures. I created them myself and I think I will give them away as Christmas presents. The upper left is supposed to be a gift for my mum, for example. I like all of them a lot, especially because they are modern and still wearable with victorian inspired outfits as I like to wear.

Pure randomness

This is an absolutely irrelevant update on my life. Nothing important, no cool outfits, no politics, just loads of pictures. So this is what happend during the last weeks and days:

I made some vegan Irish Soda Bread. Or at least I tried. The result is something that looks like the surface of the moon. Or a toad...

It did taste delicious though!

I got Young Avengers #1 Director's Cut via ebay for 3€ and a few weeks later I bought the Young Avengers Children's Crusade part 1 in a comic book store. They only had it in German but as I have already read the whole Young Avengers series in English I can now laugh about all the weird mistakes they made while translating. Billy calls Teddy "Boyfriend". In the German version. They didn't translate the word at all. No German person would refer to their boyfriend as "Boyfriend" in German. Never. Ever. Nevertheless Young Avengers is also cool in German. Not as great as in English but still...

YA Children's Crusade N°1

After a long time of being unbelievably unproductive I did not only start to write a paper about Clara Zetkin and her influence on women's rights, I also sewed a pencil case. I used to carry my pencils loosely in my bag end ended up never finding one because my bag is like Hermione's: Endless and full of misteries. 

I made it from some felt I got from my boyfriend's mum for Christmas. The wings have been lying in my sewing box for more than a year now so I thought now would be a good time to finally use them. They remind me of Wiccan's head thingy and of Thor of course. 

I had some felt left so I made another bag:

I don't really know what to do with this second, smaller bag. Imke, any chance you want it?

I'm obsessed with a nail polish at the moment. It's Genius In the Bottle by Catrice and it is nothing but beautiful!

Because it looks fantastic with old gold jewellery I decided to wear my selfmade Oscar Wilde necklace with it for the first time. I love that pendant so much but I never got around wearing it.

Okaaay, what else? Oh right, I got my nose pierced but you won't see a photo until it is all nice and healed. Right now it is still red and half a red nose is not exactly the prettiest thing in the world... Speaking of red: I coloured part of my fringe pink but it came out more as a wine red which is perfectly fine with me.

It's the best quality I got. In all the other pictures the colour was kind of...wrong...

Excuse the bathroom picture. If Blogger was Myspace and this was 2005 I'd be cool.

Another ribbon hair style

Yesterday was friend's birthday and because she learns Swedish she decided to have a themed party. She decorated everything in blue and yellow, played Abba and made typical Swedish food. I love themed partys so much, as any other excuse to dress up as well because in reality I am just a little girl that likes to play with her mum's clothes.

I decided to make a necklace and some bracelets out of blue and yellow ribbon but the most important part of the outfit was of course my hair-do!

This one was really, really easy to do and to my delight it didn't fall apart. Those photos were taken after about seven hours but I think the hair-do still looks ok. I didn't lose any of the rose hair pins, yay! I have a whole bunch of those rose bobby pins, you can get ten silk roses for a Euro here and bobby pins are pretty cheap too so I have them in red, pink, blue and yellow but I think I have some magenta coloured ones too, I just don't know where they are.

The Story of a Pair of Shoes. And donating blood.

So, I had really good plans for today: I only have one class of Uni on Tuesdays (I know, right? Sometimes life just loves me!) and it's basically in the middle of the night. 8:00 am. Okay, okay, I am exaggerating... but I have to get up in the middle of the night to be there (05:30 am) and after that one class I don't really have anything to do because my friends are all at Uni and I am a lazy shit and don't have a real job ( I tutor kids on Wednesdays and Fridays). So I decided to do something good for society and my bank account and donate blood. Normally, I do it for free at the Red Cross but I missed the last date because occasionally I do have Uni so I went to the University clinic in Bonn where they give you 25 €. 

Normally. 

Normally doesn't seem to work that good for me though. After going to Cologne central station after Uni and eat a way too early lunch at 10:30 to be fit for losing half a litre of blood and after going to the Uni clinic which was a trip that took me over a hour to get there, after nearly getting lost at the friggin' clinic grounds and after preparing myself to not get a panic attack when they come up with those huge needles they didn't want my blood. 

Let me repead that: They. Didn't. Want. My. Blood. They didn't even test me for asiderosis ( the deficiency of iron in the blood). They asked me which asthma sprays I use, discussed for a while whether or nor not I was a suited donour and that was it. 

I was a little perplex. As I already said I do have donated blood before (3 times) and my medicine had never been a problem. I was afraid that maybe the Red Cross had made a mistake those times and that my blood wasn't suitable for transfusions so I simply asked why it was a problem that I use those sprays. The lady on the counter gave me a quite annoyed look and said: "Well, we aren't the Red Cross, we give the blood to very ill patients, there mustn't be anything in there."

Oh really?

What do you think does the Red Cross do with the blood? Sell it to occult sects? Give it to My Chemical Romance so that they don't have to youse paint in their photo shoots anymore? Paint walls with it?

Or maaaaybe they give it to "very ill" people who have lost a lot of blood? Well, no, that idea is far of!

Don't get me wrong. I am not pissed because I couldn't donate and didn't get the money, I am pissed that I used my free time to get there and do something good and they treat me like an idiot. The counter lady was annoyed the whole bloody time! I tought my question was a valid one, I should know why my blood isn't good for transfusions, shouldn't I? Argh!

So I went back. I took the bus to Bonn central station and then remembered that there are no train connections to my home town from there, only to Cologne. Therefore, I decided to walk through the city and do some window shopping because on the other side of the city I could take a metro to the city next to mine and from there I could easily get back home. 

Long things short, I suck at window shopping, I always buy stuff.

I have been looking for a decent pair of flat shoes for weeks now. I am not exactly a fan of shoes without heels, I mean where is the point in wearing them? On the other hand, I have to do quite a bit of walking on some days of Uni and I still have problems with my right metatarsal ( or rather the tiny extra knuckle that is next to it and that shouldn't be there. I am a mutant...) since January so heels are not always an option. 

Unfortunatly, I haven't seen any nice shoes, neither high nor flat, during the last weeks. I don't like mainstream shoes but getting and overpriced pair of gothic brand shoes isn't really worth the money as I "only" needed flat shoes. 

Luckily, I wasn't allowed to donate blood and luckily I was pissed and wanted to cheer myself up because I found the perfect pair of shoes. At H&M. Seriously. I try not to buy at those kind of chains of stores because I do not like the conditions under which they produce their products. The workers are often minors and underpaid. Urgh! On the other hand, I cannot afford to buy my basics at my favourite gothic store where I know where everything comes from, so...

Well, back to topic. 

I found them.

I also had another lucky finding. A black agate ring with a diamond pattern. I got it at Bioux Brigitte for less than 2€ which is really cheap. Did I mention that I love semi-precious stones? Well, i do.

Jewelry supplies

Today I got some new crafting supplies in the mail. I ordered them about four weeks ago but as they come from Hong Kong that is not really a long shipping time. The products are really nice, I'm very happy with the quality and I have already sooo many ideas what to do with them. 

I got 12 glass pendants, 2 red pendants, 4 golden bases, 3 silver charms and 3 bronze charms. I immediately started to glue the red stones to one of the charms and to a base of a ring that I still had lying around.

I'm sooo excited to wear this combination for the first time, I think it adds a lot of elegance to a look because those two pieces remind me of old victorian jewelry.

Jewelry making

One of the things I like to do spend my time with is crafting so a year ago I started making my own jewelry. I usually buy my supplies at internet shops such as Etsy or Dawanda, it is way cheaper to buy the supplies and then make your own unique jeelry than buying it at a shop. I get to spend my time with being creative and in the end I have some nice new accessoires, how perfect is that?

I really wanted to wear my new bag as soon as possible so yesterday I checked my accessoires hoping to find some things that would go with the bag. I found some (fake!) pearls and a necklace. I think pearls look really good with vintage, they're kind of classy even when they're plastic. The necklace is my favourite, it's a small watch with a dragonfly on it, I absolutely adore it! Dragonflies are amazing, insects fascinate me alot. 

The rose and the nail polishes are new, I bought them on Wednesday after work.
