Bird Skulls and Glitter

Oh my, has it been two weeks already? I apologise. I am sick in bed with a bronchitis right now which isn't really an exciting topic to write about, especially as I don't really get out of the house. I still don't have much to tell but not writing anything in this blog for such a long time feels almost like abandoning a friend.

One thing I can tell you about is my newest craft project. In the beginning of January I ordered some pendants for a jewellery set I intend to make. A few days ago they finally arrived:

They are metal bird skulls, yay! I know, that's a pretty stereotypical motive but I like the irony of wearing animal skulls as a vegan. I intend to make a necklace, earrings, a brooch and a bracelet in order to have a complete set. I knoooow, the big skull looks a bit phallic, but I'm sure I can make it look good anyway. I'm hoping to be able to goth up my outfits with these pieces, I have the feeling that I dress rather boring at the moment...

Something I am looking forward to a lot is my birthday. On the 15th of March (Caesar's death day) I am turning 22 and I am going to celebrate it with a motto party. My friends hate me for my party mottos, but it is my birthday and to quote Loki: I do what I want!
This year's motto is Glitter and Fairydust, everyone has to glitter-up, it is going be awesome!

I promise that I will blog on a more regular basis from now on, I really just didn't have much to say.

Have a great day!

It's Just What All Young Lovers Do

The Count and I have never done something for Valentines Day before. We don't believe in showing you care about someone on a special day and we also don't like flowers and cheesy cards. Today though, today was different. We did the cheesiest thing a couple can do in Cologne. We hung a love padlock on the Hohenzollernbrücke which is one of the bridges that cross the Rhine. It is the one closest to the cathedrale and the most famous place in Germany to put love padlocks. Right now, there are over 40.000 padlocks on the bridge, they have become a tourist magnet and a very popular photo motive.
Many padlocks are engraved or signed but we decided to go for a simple cheap padlock, we're not THAT cheesy.

It is a tradition to throw the keys into the Rhine but I think a lock is something that should open all the time, even if it is just to replace it with a nicer one. Also, it's not exactly ecological to just throw your trash into random rivers so we each kept one of the keys.

Have a geat day,
The Countess

The Boyfriend Tag

It is Valentines Day and this year I'm giving in to society who constructed this unnecessary holiday. I have never really celebrated Valentines Day, I never recieved a Valentines gift or a card and I have never been on a Velentines date. I don't do dates.
Well, this year is different. This year The Count "agreed" to do the boyfriend tag for this blog because he is awesome and because I forced him.

So here we go. Everything in italics are comments by me.

She is sitting in front of the TV what is on the screen?
-The DVD standby screen 'cause she's probably asleep... again.

You are out to eat what kind of dressing does she get on her salad?
-Try again later

Vinegar

What is one food she doesn't like?
-She's supposed to not like broccoli.

Brokkoli is awesome though. I don't eat animal products, I hate bananas, and a lot of other stuff.

You go out to eat and have a drink what does she order?
-Depends on her mood.

What size shoe does she wear?
-Dwarf size. I guess about 36 in a human measuring system.

It's something between a German 36 and 37. Pretty small.

If she was collecting anything what would it be?
-Stones. All kind of stones. Green ones, blue ones, some are interesting (stone from the Vesuvius), some are not so much.

Also postcards, DVDs and entrance tickets for basically everything.

What is her favorite type of sandwich?
-None

We are not as sandwich obsessed here in Germany as people in the English speaking world, I guess, even though we are the bread nation.

What would this person eat everyday if she could?
-Quite a hard one. I'm gonna go with sushi here.

What is her favourite cereal?
-Does she eat cereals?! O.o

Not really, no.

What's her favourite music?
-Schandmaul, Fall Out Boy, Fiddlers Green, Voltaire

My very favourite band is My Chemical Romance, the rest was quite right. I also like Flogging Molly, Amanda Palmer, The Maccabees and some German bands.

What's her favourite sports team?
-Pixy Rugby team of Scotland.

I hate that he is way funnier than me. No, I actually love it, I just don't tend to admit it.

What's her eye colour?
-Brown-greenish.

Who's her best friend?
-She calls her Pfogel afaIk.

Pfogel is my nickname for Alex who is indeed my best friend.

What is something you do that she wishes you wouldn't?
-Making fun of her?

Eating meat!

What's her heritage/where she's from?
-Faery

Which is the land of the fairies.

You bake her a cake for her birthday, what kind of cake is it?
-Awesome cupcakes with extremely awesome icing.

Yay!

Did she play any sports?
-She sais ballet. Your choice whether this counts as a sport.

It does!

What could she spend hours doing?
-Many things. Reading, sleeping, eating, talking, singing, sewing.

Nailed it. Also, wasting time on the internet (Tumblr, Youtube, Facebook, fanfiction archieves, Blogger...) and writing.

What is one unique talent she has?
-She can be very enthusiastic about many things.

Aww, thanks. He sometimes hates it.

Okay, so basically The Count is awesome and I'm pretty lucky to have him.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

I'm a Unicorn! A Costume Preview

It's this time of the year again! Karneval! From Thursday on it will be all about costumes, glitter and false lashes. Oh, and beer, beer is pretty important too!
So I have been working on my costume for a while and I thought I'd give you a little preview!

Yup, I'm a unicorn. The make-up will be different, though, right now I don't look sparkly but greasy. Today I will hopefully finish the dress and some accessoires and then the best costume ever is done! Okay, it's probably not the best costume I have ever made, but hey, it's hard to come up with something new every year, especially with a limited budget and very little sewing skills.
On Saturday I am going to go to the annual costume ball which takes place in my hometown. The last three years I always won a prize for best costume but they CAN'T seriously give me one again, how unfair would that be? Therefore, I decided to tone it down a bit, at least this year. I want an easy, comfortable costume that doesn't itch, hurt my head or hits the people around me so yeah, unicorn it is.

Here are the costumes I wore to the ball the last two years:

Do you celebrate Karneval or something similar?
Have a great day,
The Countess
