It's Just What All Young Lovers Do

The Count and I have never done something for Valentines Day before. We don't believe in showing you care about someone on a special day and we also don't like flowers and cheesy cards. Today though, today was different. We did the cheesiest thing a couple can do in Cologne. We hung a love padlock on the Hohenzollernbrücke which is one of the bridges that cross the Rhine. It is the one closest to the cathedrale and the most famous place in Germany to put love padlocks. Right now, there are over 40.000 padlocks on the bridge, they have become a tourist magnet and a very popular photo motive.
Many padlocks are engraved or signed but we decided to go for a simple cheap padlock, we're not THAT cheesy.

It is a tradition to throw the keys into the Rhine but I think a lock is something that should open all the time, even if it is just to replace it with a nicer one. Also, it's not exactly ecological to just throw your trash into random rivers so we each kept one of the keys.

Have a geat day,
The Countess

The Boyfriend Tag

It is Valentines Day and this year I'm giving in to society who constructed this unnecessary holiday. I have never really celebrated Valentines Day, I never recieved a Valentines gift or a card and I have never been on a Velentines date. I don't do dates.
Well, this year is different. This year The Count "agreed" to do the boyfriend tag for this blog because he is awesome and because I forced him.

So here we go. Everything in italics are comments by me.

She is sitting in front of the TV what is on the screen?
-The DVD standby screen 'cause she's probably asleep... again.

You are out to eat what kind of dressing does she get on her salad?
-Try again later

Vinegar

What is one food she doesn't like?
-She's supposed to not like broccoli.

Brokkoli is awesome though. I don't eat animal products, I hate bananas, and a lot of other stuff.

You go out to eat and have a drink what does she order?
-Depends on her mood.

What size shoe does she wear?
-Dwarf size. I guess about 36 in a human measuring system.

It's something between a German 36 and 37. Pretty small.

If she was collecting anything what would it be?
-Stones. All kind of stones. Green ones, blue ones, some are interesting (stone from the Vesuvius), some are not so much.

Also postcards, DVDs and entrance tickets for basically everything.

What is her favorite type of sandwich?
-None

We are not as sandwich obsessed here in Germany as people in the English speaking world, I guess, even though we are the bread nation.

What would this person eat everyday if she could?
-Quite a hard one. I'm gonna go with sushi here.

What is her favourite cereal?
-Does she eat cereals?! O.o

Not really, no.

What's her favourite music?
-Schandmaul, Fall Out Boy, Fiddlers Green, Voltaire

My very favourite band is My Chemical Romance, the rest was quite right. I also like Flogging Molly, Amanda Palmer, The Maccabees and some German bands.

What's her favourite sports team?
-Pixy Rugby team of Scotland.

I hate that he is way funnier than me. No, I actually love it, I just don't tend to admit it.

What's her eye colour?
-Brown-greenish.

Who's her best friend?
-She calls her Pfogel afaIk.

Pfogel is my nickname for Alex who is indeed my best friend.

What is something you do that she wishes you wouldn't?
-Making fun of her?

Eating meat!

What's her heritage/where she's from?
-Faery

Which is the land of the fairies.

You bake her a cake for her birthday, what kind of cake is it?
-Awesome cupcakes with extremely awesome icing.

Yay!

Did she play any sports?
-She sais ballet. Your choice whether this counts as a sport.

It does!

What could she spend hours doing?
-Many things. Reading, sleeping, eating, talking, singing, sewing.

Nailed it. Also, wasting time on the internet (Tumblr, Youtube, Facebook, fanfiction archieves, Blogger...) and writing.

What is one unique talent she has?
-She can be very enthusiastic about many things.

Aww, thanks. He sometimes hates it.

Okay, so basically The Count is awesome and I'm pretty lucky to have him.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

All the reasons. Well, actually not all of them but at least a few

I love you

Because you have the same stupid smile at concerts as I.

Because even though you prefer Iron Man you still understand my endless love for the X-Men and Batman.

Because you agree that crisps are worth dying for.

Because you know that if Draco Malfoy ever turns into a real person, you might have to fight for me. And you don't care. I'll stay with you, anyway.

Because you eat vegan when I am around without me telling you to do so.

Because you smoke even though none of your friends does and still you aren't apologetic about it. Because you like it.

Because you are the biggest nerd in the world and because you see that as a compliment.

Because you never critizise my political views even though you don't agree on them.

Because you are looking forward to combining our movie collections when we move in together.

Because you call me stupid while your eyes tell me that actually you think I'm a pretty smart cookie.

Because you can talk about physics for hours and forget that I don't understand a word.

Because you make the most wunderful gifts.

Because you let me take pictures of us even though you hate it.

Because you run around telling everyone that I am your girlfriend.

Because you know that 3 1/2 years isn't a lifetime but the beginning of it.

So, thanks. You're pretty awesome. Even though you'll never read this because you don't read that blog as a principle.

May tree madness

Do you remember the post where I talked about the German tradition of may trees? In the night of the 30th of April to the 1st of May Boys and men put up birch trees in front of the girl's/woman's house they love. The trees are usually decorated with colourful crêpe paper pieces and a wooden heart with the girl's name on it. It's a nice tradition and I loved every tree the count gave me so far but this year is a leapyear which means it was my turn!
Well, may the first passed and therefore I can finally post pictures of the tree and especially the heart. Unfortunately, I cannot show you a picture of the finished heart as it features the Count's name.  Still, I have a few pictures to show you.

Here we go:

The Count studys physics so I thought a robot with an atom on its head would be appropriate

Unfinished

That's how we transported the may trees. Yes, seriously.

The end result. I edited the name away

Have a great day,

The Countess
